A Small Piece of Bear Basin History
Many guests are surprised to learn that this property shares a unique connection with the Bear Basin trail system.
Years ago, before today's trailhead existed, portions of the original Nordic ski trail network crossed this property. Our family partnered with the Payette Lakes Ski Club to help make those trails possible, including hosting an early trailhead and yurt that served local skiers.
Today, guests can still enjoy direct access to the incredible Bear Basin trail system just steps from the cabin—a connection that makes this property especially meaningful to us.
A Place Our Family Has Loved for Generations
Long before Bear's Lair became a cabin, this property was simply a place our family escaped to.
For decades, these woods have been a place to unplug, explore, and enjoy everything that makes McCall special. We've watched countless sunsets through these trees, spent evenings around campfires, and made memories that have become part of our family's story.
When we decided to build Bear's Lair, our goal wasn't simply to create another vacation rental—it was to create the kind of place we would choose to stay ourselves.
